Goals in Life

We all have goals - in some form or another. It's odd the timing that goals decide to takeover your body and become a realization of something you're actually going to do. Mine usually hit me like a bag of hammers in the middle of the night. That's nor here nor there ... the point being that my bag of hammers was more like a sledge hammer and knocked me into some alternate universe where I know not what I'm doing!!!

So, where is this rambling taking you... well, for those of you who are visiting my little blog got my letter/card ... I have begun training for my very first marathon!!! Yes, I'm serious ... I'm training to run 26.2 miles around the great city of Nashville on April 28. 2007 in the Music City Marathon!!! I promise, I'm not being medicated right now, I'm serious.

This could be one of the most invigorating things I've ever taken on. I've always said I wanted to run a marathon but never really had the motivation nor the desire to complete nor tackle such a task. Until a while back ... I sort of had a come to Jesus with myself. Well, actually, I had just completed planning my first, and totally successful benefit golf tournament. In 5 weeks, I helped raise over $5000 for a friend fighting cancer. It was THE MOST amazing feeling I'd ever had. I'd always considered myself a selfish person, until that moment ... when we handed over $5000 in cash. The emotion was way more than I could handle. Knowing that my ambition and goal (if you will) made such a difference in someones life, I could only wonder why I wasn't helping people left and right. So. Here I am. Running a marathon to help raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. And I gotta tell you ... it feels phenomenal.
