So, this is my first blog and my first entry. Hopefully not TOO overdue???
I'm just kinda playing this whole blog thing by ear, it's kinda weird, but hopefully I'll keep some of you interested!
I'm sure you're wondering what started this whole marathon thing, so I'll start there. Well, it's kinda been one of those "I wanna do this before I'm 30" things for a while. I'd gotten a direct mail piece back in September from the Leukemia/Lymphoma society and I figured... "why not??" Me and my emotional self, I cried when they showed the film on mothers and sisters and best friends that had been faced with all these types of cancers and it made me start to think. First of all, the people I knew that had to take on these illnesses, and secondly, seeing the accomplishment in the eyes of all these people who were just like me and had actually trained and completed 26 miles!!! Again, I cried like a baby! It was pretty much at that point that I realized this was totally something I could and would do. So, I signed up!! Since then (which I think was October something) I've been getting mentally prepared for this run.
The way the program works is awesome. EVERY Saturday we have a group run. That's when everyone in the Nashville area who's participating with TNT gets together and does our distance run for the week. Since the majority of us are amateurs, the mileage is quite small at the moment (I do 2 miles, 2 days a week and 6 miles every Saturday until the end of December), but that number will start to build SHORTLY... all the way to 22 miles the first week of April!!!
So, that's where I'm at. Well, sort of. I'm gonna write a new blog each Sunday... so keep up, dang it!! I think you can subscribe on this thing, so I hope you do. Please ask questions and tell me your stories. I really can't explain how this whole thing feels. It's quite amazing.
Take care and I hope to hear from you soon:)
